  • Christmas lights switch on soon!
    On November 12th the Redbridge Christmas lights will be switched on. Nick Bailey, a.k.a Dr Anthony Truman from Eastenders will be there along with Redbridge Mayor Cllr Vanessa Cole and stars fro mthe Kenneth More Theatre. The fun starts at 4pm with a laser lights show. A lantern procession will follow by school children. The switch-on is at 6pm and there will be a fireworks display too.

  • Ilford girl wins title of Great British champion in Irish dancing, held in Bristol.
    A girl from Ilford wins the Great British Irish Dancing Championships. Former world champion herself, she beat the reigning world champion with a routine she choreographed herself.

  • Pop Idol success for Barkingside man
    A man from Barkingside has made it through to the final 12 of ITV's Pop Idol. Marc Dillon, 22, who has spent a year in prison for his role in a mugging also performed at The Exchange recently.

  • 92 year old marathon runner does it again!
    Fauja Singh, the 92 year old marathon runner from Ilford, smashed his own world record when he ran the 26 mile Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 5 hours 40 mins. His previous time for a marathon was 22 minutes longer. He is now due to appear in an Adidas TV commercial next year. He is also due to run in the New York marathon soon.
