  • Bank fined for putting the rubbish out on the wrong day!
The Natwest bank in Ilford Hill was taken to court by Redbridge Council after they put the rubbish out on the wrong day. Environmental officers found 68 bags of waste (wow!) and 14 boxes at 9:30am on 19th August. They were still there at 4pm the next day when the council decided to remove it because of the obstruction it was causing. The bank says it was because of a mix up with the pick-up time with Biffa the waste disposal company. The bank was fined £1000 + £196.25 costs.

  • How could the Mayor refuse?
Miss Vietnam, fresh from 'competing' in the Miss World competition took time out to have dinner with The Mayor, Cllr Dev Sharma in Wanstead with members of the Vietnamese community. The Mayor, who presumable has a very understanding wife, said he was not only impressed by her beauty, but with her brains. She apparently quizzed him about life in London and the education system.
