Redbridge Council leader was decided by toss of a coin | Submitted: 28 Mar 2004 | The Conservatives, currently in power in Redbridge with a majority of 34 out of 63 seats, had a secret ballot to determine the next leader. 17 party members backed each of the choices - current leader Cllr Burgess and Cllr Hughes. According to party rules in this event, a coin would be brought out to decide. Unlucky Cllr Hughes called tails leaving Cllr Burgess to carry on in power.
