• This week's news in brief!
  Firefighters evacuated residents in Juniper Road as a shed containing a 25kg propane gas cylinder caught fire. The cylinder did not explode.
• Man in Amanda Close, Chigwell, found deadtwo months after he died.
• Heathcote Clinic was gutted by fire after young vandals set fire to a dustbin. It has been a target for graffiti and broken windows.
• Downshall Primary School teaching quality has been described as 'very good', cultural studies 'excellent' by OFSTED inspectors.
• The price of semi-detached properties in the borough have increased by £40,000 over the last year, and terraced hourse £20,000, according to HM's Land Registry Report.
• Ex-prime Minister of Bangladesh visited Meghna Grill, a restaurant in South Woodford.
• Mobile phone company Orange will visit the Town Hall to try to convince people that mobile phone masts are not dangerous. That would be amazing as there is no scientific evidence that it is not. If anyone went, I would be interested to know what they said.

• 11 year old impaled on railings
  On Thurday afternoon, a Woodlands Primary pupil attemped to climb over the railings at Loxford Park. A spike pieced his skin above his right elbow. A group of nearby school pupils came to his aid, one went for help and the other two supported him until help arrived.
  
  The spike had hit a bone, lucky for him, as this prevented any damage to arteries.

• Mail van stolen
  In an early morning, 7:45am on Friday, there was a raid outside Waterstone's book shop, High Road, Ilford. A mail van was stolen. Noone was hurt during the theft. After a postal worker had made his rounds in the town centre, he was gobsmacked to find it had disappeared. It has since been recovered, abandoned miles away in Barking. Most of the contents have been recovered undamaged.

• Conman steals £100 from elderly woman
  An 86 year old woman was conned out of £100 when a bogus caller, pretending to be from the water board, demanded money after saying to the lady he had come to investigate a sewage problem. He picked up her purse and removed the full amount, while he was in the house.

• Man and car set alight
  On May 18th, while a man was sleeping in his car, his car was set alight by an unknown person. It is being treated as attempted murder. The man remains critically ill and has now come off a ventilator. He can only repond to questions by squaazing his hand. It happened in Brooking Way, Forest Gate.
