  • Ilford Imaging saved
Ilford Imaging, the company named after the town it started in, has been bought out. 300 had already been made redundant and the jobs of the other 300 have been saved. The new company will be called Ilford Photo. The company was put into administration in August last year.

  • 160 food poisining cases
Ilford is not normally renowned for its cuisine, and it's easy to see why. 160 people who ate at A1 Kebabish in Manor Park, Ilford were struck down with salmonella. Due to the recent 'compensation culture' phenomenon the victims are seeking compensation against the owners.

  • Ilford Christmas lights switch on Wed 17 Nov
No celebs being advertised, perhaps they blew the budget with Dr Truman last year, but the grand Ilford Christmas lights will be switched on on Wed 17th 6pm. The only bit of info I can find is the quote 'we have bought new lights this year'. Perhaps this is why no celebs? More importantly...what happened to the old ones....were they lost? stolen? (I can't imagine why anyone would want to steal those microscopic things!) Is anyone going there tonight?? Please post a News Response if you are!!

  • Ilford Christmas Lights switch on
They're on again for another new year.

You can view pictures of the event here

There will also be analysis of Ilford Town Centre manager's quote 'We have bought new lights this year'. We will demonstrate using photographic evidence from when records began (2002) to the present.

The event was dramatically scaled back this year. No sign this year of the celeb, the awesome fake snow machine, the free wine, the live bands or street entertainers, but this year we get a distinctly dodgy PA ('Christmas...is her first name Mary') the 1970's Butlins reject to provide entertainment through his karaoke and handovers/praise of the Ilford Town Centre financial backers including...Chris from the local paper... After Chris delivered his string of panto chichés the PA had to acknowledge that he didn't get much of a round of applause when he was brought on stage, and had to encourage the audience to give him a better sendoff.

Other speakers included the Mayor of Redbridge, Reg 'are you having a good time....hmmmmmmyeah' Woda and the poor lady from the KMT who was rather cruelly put on the spot while the PA fetched the next Christmas cracker joke out of his head and asked her to name the rest of the cast she will be alongside in Snow White.

We sure know how to host a party here in Ilford.

  • Ilford Imaging to be put into administration
Ilford Imaging, the company names after the town it was started in, has been put into administration. The company was started in 1879, when a Mr Alfred Hugh Harman set up a business in the basement of his house on the corner of Cranbrook Road and Park Avenue (where the Cranbrook pub is now). There could be 700 jobs cut in their factory in Cheshire if a buyer cannot be found. They blame a downturn in the demand in black and white photography.
