- Bank robber returns cash!
On Friday May 21, Barclays Bank in Barkingside found its cash machine emptied of £115,000. Looks like the robber had a guilty concience as £104,000 of it was returned by him placing a black bin liner full of the £10 and £20 notes placed near the front door. [Add your comment or read 7 from others]
- Trevor Brooking and headteacher are knighted
Trevor Brooking, BBC sports commentator who attended Ilford County High School and also Alan Steer, headmaster of Seven Kings High School have been knighted by the Queen.

- Suspected terrorist arrested in Ilford
One of the eight men arrested today after half a ton of ammonium nitrate fertiliser was found in a storage unit in West London, was from Ilford. All eight men arrested in raids on 24 premises across the South East were of Pakistani descent and are accused of being involved in the commission, preparation or instagation of acts of terrorism. The fertiliser was used in the Docklands and Bali bombings, and used by the IRA and al-Quaeda.

- Redbridge Council leader was decided by toss of a coin
The Conservatives, currently in power in Redbridge with a majority of 34 out of 63 seats, had a secret ballot to determine the next leader. 17 party members backed each of the choices - current leader Cllr Burgess and Cllr Hughes. According to party rules in this event, a coin would be brought out to decide. Unlucky Cllr Hughes called tails leaving Cllr Burgess to carry on in power. [Add your comment or read 6 from others]
