Just a quick link for us to have our say to the council on a few things about our borough.  Just saw the link in the local freebie newspaper.

Is there anything anyone would like to see happen for our borough.  For me I would love to see more CCTV to help prevent fly tipping and petty crime and less housing around the city centre area, well I can always dream lol  Undecided Cry

Good luck with that!

Under the old system of local area committees, our mob had bought a mobile camera - mobile only in the sense that it would be relocated about three times a year.

However, there was a problem - the council's aerial system didn't work outside of the town centre, so this camera had been located on a semi-permanent basis just off Cranbrook Road. However, this situation was set to be resolved by a new aerial system to be installed on top of Pioneer Point.

So I asked at the next meeting if the camera, when it became mobile, could be sited in one local road which suffered (and still does) from persistent fly tipping, anything from bursting carrier and bin bags to beds and three piece suites plus the inevitable builder's waste.

The committee weren't responsible for choosing the camera locations, I was told but I should report it to the community police team. If they considered the request to merit attention it would be added to the bottom of the list which, we were told, already contained 25 requests.

At 3 moves a year that was over an eight year delay - possibly more, depending on when the new aerial was up and running.

As we intended to be out of the stinking hell-hole that Redbridge has become by that time, I didn't bother pursuing the matter.

Well, that time must just about be up by now.

Greetings from Lincolnshire, by the way ...
