Hi all,
can anyone help settle an argument between myself and a friend now living in new zealand, on a recent visit back we were taking a reminiscing visit to ilford and we disagreed about the name of a burger bar in ilford high road opposite mcdonalds in about 1986/87. Can anyone recall if it was called hungerburger or hungercure, any help on this would be massive and hopefully save me eating large piece of humble pie.

Hi, Scott - I'm 99.9% certain it was called Hungercure. I never went in there but used to pass it and think what a clumsy-sounding name it was, even if it was also a plain statement of what they did!

Feenix...the memory is fading but didn't The Golden Egg become the Wimpy Bar?
And didn;t it take the old White Horse site?

Negative Toby, the Wimpey was on the diagonal opposite of the old Bank on the Ilford lane side. The original GE was on the corner diagonal opposite to the  Red Lion side of Ilford Lane. You could wait outside the Wimpey and hop on a bus to Seven Kings when it slowed or stopped at the then traffic lights.
