Bus companies

Hi! I am staying with a group of 25 people in Ilford in June and have just discovered that we have got a very early flight back from Stansted airport. As going via Liverpool Street and Stansted Express doesn't look like the fastest option I am thinking of using a bus directly from the hotel to the airport. Can anyboday recommend a local buscompany? Or has anybody got a better idea? Flight leaves at 7am... Cheers from Austria! Amadeus

There is a company that specialises in this - the Stansted Flyer: Timetable here.

Depart Ilford (stop P) 03:15 arrive Stansted 05:00 - just in time for a two hour check-in!

The bus approaches Ilford from the north, via Cranbook Road so, if it passes your hotel, you may be able to arrange a special stop - see the website.

It isn't the most direct of routes but you'll be hard pressed to find a scheduled direct point-to-point service at three in the morning, I think!

The only other choice you have would be to go to Stansted direct by taxi. You'll probably get another hour in bed but at a very high price!

Hi KType. thanks for your advice. I already got a very good offer by travelforce which I think I will go for as it offers door to door transport at a very reasonable price. Anyway, thanks for your help, very much appreciated and kind regards from snowy Austria!

Ah! I didn't take in the size of your party when I read your post before!

The Stansted Flyer will also do customised journeys but only quotes for up to 20 people are available on line.

If they were all adults, a party of 20 would cost 249.52 but one adult and 19 children 12 years old or less would only cost 115.73.

So, for a party of adults, around 10 a head. How does that compare with the quote you've got?

Hi! I got exactly the same quote, 250 GBP for the transfer to Stansted which is why we're now also thinking of using the bus from Stansted to Ilford, bit quicker than Stansted Express and also faster (normally). 250 GBP is just about 10 pounds per person - all students are above the age of 17. The advantage being of course that it is a door to door transfer...Looks like a good offer and a very good start to a school trip.

Thanks a lot for all your help!!!! I am really loooking fwd to this trip, going to be good!

Smiley Looking forward to a great stay in London! If people are just half as nice as the people on this Forum, it's going to be fabulous, sure it will! Thanks!
