.....are the police in Ilford so brainless and desperate to improve their image by removing the essentials needed by homeless people Huh

It's easier than catching crooks, most police forces seem to take the easy options. Real policing takes time, manpower and money which, thanks to the present government, is not there. What the police did to those people is inexcusable and those involved should be made to appologise. Those responsible for issuing the order should be sacked.

They probably did go too far - but we've only heard one side of this story so I'm reserving judgement.  I do know I wouldn't want to live next door to one of these "squatter camps".

around here, and most probably in Ilford and the surrounding areas as well, new signs being put up saying "no begging, no sleeping, no legal highs, no alcohol  Fine  £1000  " then it gives some description of a new law that has been brought in...........

...if I was sleeping homeless then id be a little peed off.....  :/

What - you think it's okay to hang about the streets  in an alcoholic haze, importuning passers by for money, defecating in gardens and sleeping in shop doorways, thus deterring paying customers?   I don't care how p-ed off they get; perhaps if they become p-ed off enough, the ones who arrived uninvited from other countries will beg sufficient funds to pay their fares home while the rest might even consider finding jobs and living like civilised people.

Hear, Hear. After spending weeks fighting over our bin shed we eventually got rid of the tramps living in it. The bleeding heart brigade set up shop until they realised where the "toilet" was for these people. Ilford has a very good record of helping homeless people especially rough sleepers with hostels in the town centre. Trouble is they will not let you in if you are drunk or drugged up which is understandable for a safety point of view. And if you are illegal you do not want to legally exist.
