| Were you getting confused with Piccalilli ...? Not that it comes from Italy as far as I know - just a thought!

Picalli is an English style of chutneyish relish.

Piccalilli is a Western interpretation of Indian pickles, a relish of chopped pickled vegetables and spices, according to Wikipedia. It does agree on relish, though ... However, chutney is also of South Asian origin but I'm not sure that I'd agree that Piccalilli falls into that category; in fact, there is nothing like it in this list of varieties

I suppose, if I said that I eat piccalilli with relish, you'd all get confused?

I thought piccaili sounded like a drunken person refering to a street in West London.

| Well at least I used my own words to describe the stuff.....let's just agree to disagree. I think we can all agree that Picalli is gross anyway.

| No, we can't!!!! Sorry, Suli but I love Piccalilli; it's great on a corned-beef sandwich or with really strong cheddar cheese or cold roast beef. Yum! It has to be really sour and mustardy, though. Some of the brands out there are far too sweet. Best of all is Waitrose own label; Haywards is second best but forget the rest!
